New Delhi:

Avengers: Age of Ultron –the sequel to the third most successful movie of all time – presents some of the best executed action sequences that can keep you at the edge of your seats. Each of those sequences however, is followed by a spell of directionless meandering of the characters which does not come out as a cohesive plot.

Watching the film is like ploughing through Hollywood genre of super heroes in a single go. That is meant to be a compliment especially for action enthusiasts who have already rated the first part in the range of (or even better than) the likes of The Dark Knight.

The ensuing chaos that Joss Whedon's films always churn out is a step ahead of expectation, managed well enough to fall short of being messy.

Super heroic acts were packaged with technical precision and cinematic finesse such that some of these sequences eclipsed the others. Mind it! All were individually brilliant but some seemed comparatively ordinary.

The opening sequence of about three minutes literally hits the nail on its head to set the mood. Digitally crocheted tracking shot of the whole gang – Iron Man/Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Captain America (Chris Evans), The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) – in a deep frozen forest gives a thrilling experience. And with this promising action sequence Whedon seeds the idea that something good must follow.

The first successful mission that gives birth to Zeus-like Ultron, who gets after Avengers’ life to conquer the earth. His combat with superheroes worth every penny spent on the ticket.

The disappointment came from the character of Scarlett Johansson. While being absent from  action sequences, her role is mostly limited to calming The Hulk down. The director in this sense has done injustice to her by neglecting the power she has been projected with.

The film manages to take off on a good note and as it heads for an end it leaves you with an emotional, old fashioned determination of Avengers to keep the lowly likes of you and me out of harm's way.

Final verdict: Marvel studio is famous for giving goose bumps while you put your eyes on 70 mm screen, the film promises the same. If action is your love then this is your treat
