Shimla:
Heat wave conditions continued unabated in lower hills of Himachal Pradesh today even as tribal areas and higher hills were lashed by thunderstorms accompanied by sharp showers.
According to MeT office, Bhandal and Keylong received 9 mm and 7 mm of rains while Majra area in Sirmaur district was hit by thunderstorms.
Una in Shivalik foothills was the hottest with maximum temperature at 42.4 degrees Celsius while Kangra and Sundernagar recorded a high of 38.1 degrees C and 37.9 degrees C, followed by Nahan 36.3, Bhunter 35.0 degrees C, Solan 34.7 degrees C and Dharamshala 32.8 degrees C.
Shimla experienced the hottest day of the season with mercury rising marginally 29.2 degrees C, followed by Manali 25.0 degrees C and Kalpa 24.0 degrees C.
Mercury dropped by few notches at Keylong which recorded a low of 5.8 degrees C, while Kalpa, Manali and Shimla registered minimum temperatures at 9.4 degrees C, 11.2 degrees C and 13.9 degrees C, followed by Bhuntar 15.4 degrees C, Dharamsala 18.8 degrees C, Sundernagar 19.0 degrees C, Una 20. 0 degrees C and Nahan 22.6 degrees C.
The local MeT office has predicted rains or thunderstorms at isolated places in mid and higher hills tomorrow while dry weather in the state from May 26 onwards.
