New Delhi:

Usually mothers get panicked when their children fall ill and follow a course of medicines and anti-biotics to treat the kid, but scientists feel that repeated courses of antibiotics may significantly impact a child’s development.

According to New York University Langone Medical Center researchers found that mice who were treated with two commonly used antibiotics were more prone to weight gain and larger bone development than untreated mice.

This means the effects antibiotics can have on children exposed early in life are very dangerous.

The side effects can include several symptoms like weight gain, bone growth, permanent damaging of body’s metabolism, and likelihood of obesity.

Therefore, researchers are urging awareness to the possible effects of weight gain and microbiome disruption as prescriptions for children continue to rise in popularity.
