New Delhi:
In a shocker, Haryana government which is already facing flak for a low sex ratio in the state saw a doctor, who is also an ex-MLA, getting arrested for allegedly conducting sex determination tests at his private clinic in Indri village of Karnal district.
Haryana health and police departments nabbed the accused doctor, identified as Ashok, after getting complaints against him.
Ashok allegedly used to charge Rs 13,000 for conducting the test illegally, according to the police.
Several abortion pills were also recovered from the doctor’s clinic. No record of their sale had been maintained, a police official said.
A case under provisions of Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (Regulation and Prevention of Misuse) Act has been registered against the doctor, he added.
