Mumbai:

Director Karan Anshuman says the release of his upcoming film “Bangistan” has been pushed ahead as the makers wanted some space for the movie.

“It (the film’s release being postponed) due to ‘Bahubali’, ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ as both these films are doing well...

“(We) did not anticipated this huge business. We wanted a good space where there are no major releases so that we get space for our film. We have got one extra week to blow our trumpet,” Karan said.

Salman Khan starrer “Bajrangi Bhaijaan” is having a mega run at the box-office and S S Rajmouli’s magnum opus “Bahubali” is also doing good business.

Sharing similar sentiments lead actor Riteish Deshmukh said, “It is not about ego that you take on a film... It is about releasing a film at a right time. A film takes two years or so to make and everyone works hard for it so we have to take a decision that is in the best interest of the film.”

“They (producers) felt that one week delay will benefit the film as we need to be in a comfortable time zone for the audience to come and see the film,” he said.

Earlier “Bangistan” was to release on July 31 along with Ajay Devgn-Tabu starrer “Drishyam”. Produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani the film is now scheduled to release on August 7.

“Bangistan” revolves around two wannabe terrorists who decide to swap their religion in order to finish the other community. The upcoming satire film also stars Pulkit Samrat and actress Jacqueline Fernandez will appear in a cameo.

“Bangistan” has been apparently banned in Pakistan over alleged anti-Muslim sentiment.

“As far as I know, they have banned the film after seeing the promos. ‘Isolation mein kuch bhi cheez khatak sakti hai’. Promos are created to titillate the imagination, excite you and so that you can come to watch the film. When you see the whole film you will understand the message. The film is about fight against terrorism, it is not against any religion or any country,” Riteish said.
