The Congress activists in West Bengal today staged protest-rallies and burnt effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi over suspension of its 25 members from Lok Sabha yesterday.

The protest-rallies were held outside the state BJP office, Hazra crossing and outside the Governor's House in Kolkata. Effigies of Modi were burnt in the two places.

Similar protest-rallies were organised in other parts of the state too.

25 of Congress party's 44 members were suspended by Lok Sabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan yesterday for five working days for continuously disrupting the House by demanding resignation of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje over Lalit Modi issue and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan over Vyapam scam.
