Brothers Movie Review: Akshay’s punch is nothing like Tom’s Warrior

From Beginning To End, It Is Very Emotional, Dramatic, Inspiring, Overwhelming And Brilliantly Punched. Wish I Could Have Said All This For Akshay Kumar And Siddharth Malhotra’s ‘Brothers’; But This Is All For The Background Score Of The Film.

New Delhi:

From beginning to end, it is very emotional, dramatic, inspiring, overwhelming and brilliantly punched. Wish I could have said all this for Akshay Kumar and Siddharth Malhotra’s ‘Brothers’; but this is all for the background score of the film.

For remakes, it is always actors’ responsibility to pull things up as the story is not a hidden secret people willing to explore. For Brothers, Jackie Shroff has delivered an act which is worth spending for.

The film, which is a remake of famous Hollywood movie Warrior, presents a story of two brothers – Monty (Sidharth Malhotra) and David (Akshay Kumar), both bonded with love and hate relationship. Gary Fernandes (Jackie Shroff) introduces Monty to his wife Maria Fernandes (Shefali Shah), who first refuses to accept him but later starts nourishment like his own son. David and Monty create a bond dipped in love and then a tragic incident kills their mother. David puts the blame on Monty and Gary and moves ahead in a life of his own terms and conditions.

The actual story begins when things get older by few years. David has now grown his new family with Jenny (Jacqueline Fernandez) and a daughter who is battling with life. Gary is back from jail and Monty is the only one looking after him. The building circumstances of need, love and hatred builds the latter, which might amuse if you love violence, blood wrapped in emotions.

A very genuine thought came from the person sitting beside me – “It is for the ones who have a younger brother, only they can relate to it.” Well, I can totally agree with the guy as it was getting difficult for me to feel it the way his eyes were depicting.

While, it was getting bearable because of some brilliant acts and obviously background music, the ladies were making it a sure shot deal that you go out and look for the best combo menu available for snacks.

All three major names – Shefali Shah, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Jacqueline Fernandez - have been ruined to the core. Though Shefali Shah can be spared for her tears she shed, but Kareena Kapoor Khan and Jacqueline will have to face the flood of words for delivering something which is totally against their charisma and calibre.

After watching the picturisation of song “Mera Naam Mary”, anyone would say, the charm is song remains with Akshay Kumar. Yes, you read it correct, Akshay Kumar, who has been in middle shots preparing for fight, is the charm and not Kareena Kapoor who is dancing and acting to be an item girl.

Well, there is no comparison of the film with its original version, which had Tom Hardy in it. Warrior came out as a master piece and this one pretended to be a piece with masters in it.

Final verdict: Watch it only if you can balance your fighter with emotions.
