Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s unprecedented pre-election bonanza has brought serious concerns for Nitish Kumar and Lalu Prasad Yadav. The whopping amount of Rs. 1.25 lakh crore has given apparent blows to Mahagathbandhan(JDU, BJP, Congress) on two accounts, on one hand it will give a strong push to BJP's campaign in Bihar, on the other it will give jolt Nititsh's 'Badhta Bihar' slogan.
The goodies offered by PM which will amount to a mammoth Rs. 1.65 Lakh crores were even not anticipated by his arch rivals-Lalu and Nitish. While the deliverance of the funds seems to depend upon October-November election results, for now Nitish’s election prank of centre’s apathy will take a backseat. However,it remains a fact that proposed package is a re-packaging of schemes in financial budget and Bihar CM is expected to rebut that how it’s a political gimmick by Modi.
Giving a jolt to Nitish's 'Badhta Bihar' campaign, this speech backed by a mega-package, highlited the ground level contradictions of the entire campaign by RJD and JD(U). As asked by Modi, Bihar CM is now left to explain how and how much his state is developed and why doesn’t it requires any further ‘beg’(funding). Other unanswerable question Nitish now faces is why the Rs. 8,000(which Bihar received in UPA regime) from Rs. 12,000 are still unspent.
While announcing magnanimous package and his plans for Bihar, Modi took a strong jibe at the authenticity of the grand alliance between JDU-RJD-Congress. Shattering Nitish and Lalu’s claims on Jayaprakash Narayan’s legacy, PM equated how the two leaders joined hand with Congress-against whom JP and Lohia’s whole movement was. It remains a fact that both Lalu and Nitish are a product JP moment during emergency era. And the foe turn friends, who earlier only had the task of justifying their association with each other, now have an added task to explain their alignment with Congress.
Modi’s lengthy speech had much content which Mahagathbandhan(Congress-JDU-RJD) will find hard to revert in their upcoming ‘Swabhimaan Rally’ at Gandhi Maidan on 29 August. To communicate their idea and purpose of alliance, answer the questions raised by Modi, and then attacking BJP will be an utter mind-boggling task for Nitish and Lalu.
