Day 2 Conclusion

India were 292 for eight against Sri Lanka when play was called off after a rain interruption in the final session of play on Day 2 of the third and final cricket Test here on second day of third test match.

Cheteshwar Pujara marked his comeback with a gritty unbeaten century as India recovered from an early slump to reach a decent 292/8 in their first innings of the third and final cricket Test against Sri Lanka here today.

The 27-year-old Pujara (135 batting) notched up his seventh Test century as he anchored the Indian innings brilliantly to take them to a respectable total after being reduced to 119/5 at one stage.

The day began 15-minutes early as stipulated for the remainder of this Test match, and the Sri Lankan bowlers were immediately on top. The ball was only 15 overs old as India started again from their day one score of 50/2.

Day 1 Conclusion

It’s been a bad day for cricket as rain marred most of the day. India was struggling at 50 for 2, when rain spoiled the day. The pitch has grass which was helping the pacers to move the ball both ways. KL Rahul and Rahane were both were removed by Prasad and Pradeep. The day has been called off with just 15 overs bowled in the day.  

Sri Lanka have won the toss and decided to bowl first against India. Naman Ojha debuts for India while Kusal Perera  for Lanka. Sri Lanka have won all the 14 Test matches played on this ground. It will be tough ask for the Indian batsman.
