New Delhi:
Saif Ali Khan and Katrina Kaif starrer Phantom has earned whopping Rs. 8.46 crore on its first day. Though the amount seems a high value but it has disappointed the experts.
The movie which has a festive weekend in the name of Rakshabandhan is expected make more money in the box-office.
The movie disappoints when we compare it to Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan which earned Rs 27.25 cr on its first day. Another movie which got similar hype and hysteria was Akshay Kumar’s Brothers which gathered Rs 15.20 crore on its opening day.
Albeit the disappointing start, Phantom, made at a budget of Rs 55 crore, is expected to make estimable profit. The Kabir Khan directed movie was the only big release of the week. Based on S Hussain Zaidi’s bestseller book Mumbai Avengers, the film is the story of a team of undercover agents assigned to eliminate the mastermind of Mumbai’s 26/11 attacks
Phantom also features Katrina Kaif and Bengali actor Sabyasachi in pivotal roles.
The movie is Kabir Khan’s second venture of the year. His earlier film Bajrangi Bhaijaan turned out to be a blockbuster at the ticket window.
