Mongia rubbishes fixing allegations against him

The match fixing ghost has arrived again to haunt the Indian cricket. After IPL spot fixing, now another former Indian player is alleged of fixing.

Yesterday, former New Zealand batsman Lou Vincent alleged match fixing allegation against former Indian player Dinesh Mongia during the unsanctioned and now defunct Indian Cricket League (ICL). However, the left handed batsman has denied such allegations and claimed it baseless.

During 2008, Mongia was in fact suspended by ICL due to disciplinary reasons which were not disclosed.

On Monday tainted New Zealand cricketer told a London courtroom that Mongia was one of the key members of a "Gang of four" that fixed matches during ICL.

According to Vincent, New Zealand allrounder Daryl Tuffey, former India batsman Mongia and Chris Cairns during the trial. He said that he had been suffering from mental health problems and depression at the time and "felt good to be part of a gang".

The 38-year-old Mongia was an integral part of Indian team during 2003 and had played 57 ODIs and one T20 International in his six-year international career.
