New Delhi:

Rahul Gandhi addressing his first press conference as Congress president elect on Tuesday launched sharp attacks on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying the letter’s development model was one sided and benefited only 5-6 big businessmen.

Rahul Said, he was surprised to see BJP on back foot, running away from real issues like corruption, farmers and development.

“People of Gujarat are very intelligent, they can see that PM Modi is not talking about corruption or farmers in his rallies. There is a massive undercurrent, I am actually little surprised, I had expected BJP to fight with more strength,” said Rahul Gandhi.

Rahul added that election is "won on narrative. Those who don't change their narrative win the polls. If you see, BJP in Gujarat kept changing narrative but failed."

"We are confident that we will win Gujarat polls," he stressed.

Rahul also said that Congress government, if elected to power, "will make every decision about Gujarat after talking to people and no decision will be taken unilaterally."

On Pakistan controversy

Rahul also criticised Modi for his allegations the Congress is conspiring with Pakistan to stop BJP from winning Gujarat Assembly elections.

“I have made it clear I will not tolerate such things, Modi ji is after all the Prime Minister of India, though what all Modi ji said about Dr.Manmohan Singh is also not acceptable,” the Congress President said.

PM Modi had alleged that Congress was seeking Pakistan's help to win Gujarat Assembly elections.

Refering to a dinner hosted by suspended Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar, Modi claimed that Aiyar along with former PM Manmohan Singh and ex-Army Chief Deepak Kapoor held a "secret meeting" with ex Pak EAM Khurshid Kasurito plan BJP's defeat in Gujarat polls.

On Modi’s Seaplane ride

Rahul also took pot-shots on Modi over his seaplane tour saying, “There is nothing wrong if Modi wants to fly in seaplane, but this was a mere distraction as the real question is, what he did for the people of Gujarat in last 22 years?”

PM Modi, after being denied permission to hold a road show in Ahmedabad found a new way to grab eyeballs by taking a seaplane from Sabarmati Riverfront to reach Dharoi Dam.

On BJP questioning his Temple visit

Rahul Gandhi also defended his move to visit temples and stood his ground against BJP’s allegation that his temple visit were only restricted to Gujarat polls.

“Whenever I went to a temple I just prayed for a 'Sunehra Bhavishya' for the people of Gujarat, a better development here,” Rahul Gandhi said.

“Is it wrong to go to a temple?,” Rahul asked.

"It's BJP's story that I visited temples in Gujarat only. But in fact, I visited Kedarnath temple. Is that in Gujarat? It's in Uttarakhand," Rahul added.
