News Nation Exit Poll: Lotus may bloom in Himachal, Congress predicted to settle with 23 seats

The BJP is headed for a win in Himachal Pradesh, News Nation exit poll has predicted. The exit poll results show that the saffron party is projected to win at least 47 assembly seats out of 68 in the hill state, while the ruling Congress may settle for 23 seats.

The exit poll predicts 43-47 seats for BJP, 19-23 for Congress. The hill state had voted on November 9 and the counting will be on December 18 along with Gujarat, where voting ended on Thursday.

Congress had won 36 seats scraping the halfway mark in 2012 Assembly Elections, while BJP had gathered 27 seats.

According to voters of Himachal Pradesh, 46 per cent people believe BJP will take care of their issues better, while 38  per cent believe the same for Congress.

Twenty-seven per cent of voters while casting their votes believed development was a major issue in the state, while nine per cent casted their vote keeping CM candidate in mind. However, 13 per cent believed women security to be a major concern, followed by corruption, drugs, unemployment, inflation and  agriculture related issues.

The News Nation exit poll found that 47 per cent people want BJP’s Prem Kumar Dumal to be the next chief minister of the state, while 41 per cent people want Virbhadra Singh to hold the post.

The exit poll found that 35 per cent people were inspired by Narendra Modi’s elections campaigns, while Rahul Gandhi inspired only 4 per cent.

The survey also reveals that 51 per cent people believe that a single party will rule the hill state for the next five years, while 21 per cent firmly believed that a coalition government will be formed.
