All the automobile freaks have an idea of how amazing 2017 has been for the auto industry, especially in terms of Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs).

The year has witnessed launches of some of the most chic SUVs sporting some stunning features, like shape, mileage, upgraded engine displacement, BHP and torque, turbo and super chargers among others. 

Many of them drove into the market and were an instant hit with the customers.

We present to you the 10 best SUVs which were the most sought afters of the year.

Ford Ecosport 2017 (credits: ford.com)

Ford Ecosport 2017 was launched on November 9 this year in both diesel and petrol variants and priced at Rs 7.31 lakh for ex-showroom.

The SUV’s facelift got a new layout for the dashboard which has 8-inch touchscreen infortainment system along with two USB ports placed under the air-conditioning unit.

Powered by 1.5 litre petrol and 1.0 EcoBoost petrol engine for the petrol variant and 1.5 litre engine for the diesel variant, the car has two front airbags and ABS which is standard across all variants.

Jaguar Land Rover F-Pace was launched on November 14 and was priced at Rs Rs 60.02 lakh for a 2-litre diesel engine.

The beast has the DNA of a sports car and comes with features like adaptive LED headlights, activity key, Wi-Fi hotspot and pro-services, and a 25.91 cm touch screen.

The car has Ingenium 2.0 litre 4 cylinder which takes the car from 0-100 km/hour in 8.7 seconds.

The new Mahindra XUV 500 W9 was launched on October 4 in India and priced at Rs 15.45 for ex-showroom. The version is positioned between W8 and W10 variants.

The car features an electric sunroof, reverse camera with dynamic assist, and Mahindra’s Ecosense Technology, and more.

The Mahindra XUV500 W9 is powered by 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine and is available in both manual and automatic transmission otpions. The 2179 cc oil burner churns out about 140 bhp and develops a peak torque of 330 Nm.

Maruti Suzuki launched its Nexa S-Cross at the time of festivals and the booking began from September 1 across all the Nexa dealerships.

The new model had several changes and a bold front grille finish was given. The front projector headlamp remained the same while the rear end sported a tweaked tail lamp cluster and a redesigned bumper.

The car is priced at Rs 8.49 lakh for ex-showroom units.

Renault Captur was launched on November 6 with an ex-showroom price of Rs 9.99 lakh.

The initial bookings for the car were opened at Rs 25,000.
The beast has dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist.

The top-end variant is named Platine and includes features like LED headlamps with daytime running lamps and Audi-like dynamic turn indicators, along with 17-inch alloy wheels.

Skoda launched its seven-seater Skoda Kodiaq in India in October at an ex-showroom price of Rs 34.49 lakh.

The beast is only available in the diesel variant. The features of the car include ‘in your face’ front grille, the split headlamp cluster that houses LED daytime running lights and LED headlamps along with large 18-inch wheels.

Tata Motors launched Tata Nexon on September 27 at a price of Rs 5.85 lakh for the petrol variant and Rs 6.85 lakh for the Diesel variant, both for an ex-showroom rate.

The sub-four metre SUV is available in four variants, XE, XM, XT and XZ+, and two engine options, 1.2-litre Revetron petrol and 1.5-litre Revotorq diesel.

The car is available in five colour options, Blue, Red, Silver, Grey and White.

Both the petrol and diesel versions have six-speed manual gearbox.

Toyota launched its latest Fortuner TRD Sportivo at a price of Rs 31 lakh and on-road price at Rs 36.88 lakh.

The SUV is only available in White colour option and is powered by a 2.8-litre diesel engine that produces a 175 hp of power and 450 Nm of torque.

The petrol version of the car has a 2.7-litre engine and manual and automatic transmissions are available for both engines.

Volkswagen Tiguan (credits: volkswagen.com)

Volkswagen launched the Volkswagen Tiguan in May at a starting ex-showroom price of Rs 27.98 lakh.

The car is equipped with a 2-litre diesel engine based on latest MQB platform and has a seven-speed automatic-DSG gearbox.

The company introduced the 4MOTION intelligent all-wheel drive system based on modern MQB platform which is a first in the Volkswagen automobiles.

The car is available in two versions, Comfortline priced at Rs 27.98 lakh and Highline priced at Rs 31.38 lakh.

Volvo XC60 (credits: volvo.com)

Volvo XC60 was launched in December and priced at an ex-showroom rate of Rs 55.90 lakh.

The automobile comes in only on variant, Inscription, and is based on the company’s latest Scalable Product Architecture (SPA).

Driving the car to its power is its 1,969 cc four-cylinder twin-turbocharged diesel engine which brings out a maximum of 233 bhp at 4000 rpm and advances a peak force of 480 Nm at 1750-225-rpm.

The beast comes with a multi-slat chrome grille on the upfront and is edged by a pair of stylish LED headlamps with Thor’s hammer LED daytime running lamps. A pair of foglamps are also added to the exterior.
