Two biggest e-commerce brands in the country, Flipkart and Amazon have announced mega sales well ahead of the festive season.
The two players are locked in an intense battle for leadership in the fast pacing e-commerce industry in the country.
Flipkart, which has been reinvigorated with the $1.5 billion funding it received in April, will have offers for products in every single category it runs from May 14 to May 18 and and to mark its 10th anniversary Flipkart has named it 'Big 10' sale.
Not to be outdone, the Amazon Great Indian Sale which will begin from May 11 till May 14 is expected to provide discounts of up to 50 percent, along with cashbacks.
For both sellers and the logistics teams, the Amazon and Flipkart sales will mean the return of big business following the cash crunch caused by demonetisation.
Sellers can expect to ship goods 3-4 times their average in this week-long sale period. Similarly, the logistics teams will have to stretch their limits to meet the fulfilment schedules for the two mega-sales. On the other hand, consumers will enjoy this festive sale bonanza with heavy discounts across popular categories.
These Amazon and Flipkart sales, however, are small steps towards their e-commerce battle and will play a key role in deciding the winner.
