The first batch of Jio Phone units will be made available from August 15 as beta trials of the 4G feature phone will commence from Tuesday. However, it doesn’t mean that the handset has been released in the market. Rather, it means that Reliance Jio has made it available to some users to test it out before its public release.
The Jio phone beta trials are presently being conducted by Jio employees which in turn will help the company to identify and iron out software and hardware issues before it reaches the consumers in September. The phone has various features like 4G VoLTE Internet, compatibility with multimedia apps, and option to mirror content to television sets via a proprietary cable.
Jio phone bookings will begin officially from August 24 (both offline and online), but some retailers have started taking pre-orders for the handset. As the phone has been launched at an effective price of Rs 0, the demand is bound to be sky high.

Reportedly, a security deposit of Rs 1,500 needs to be paid at the hour of picking up the handset.Specifications and features of Jio PhoneThis is a 4G Volte phone with a bar design and 2.4-inch QVGA display that is not touch sensitive.
Along with a dedicated button for torchlight, it will also come with an alphanumeric keypad, microphone, speaker and will support all Indian languages. It has an SOS feature as well, which can be activated by pressing 5. Moreover, it’s processor is dual clocked at 1.1 GHz. Further, the phone supports FM Radio, HD video streaming and constitutes of dual sim connectivity.
