According to Consumer Reports’ test, Apple’s new MacBook Pros has inconsistent battery life and test have confirmed of low battery results.
However, Apple is still standing by its advertised battery claims and said that the low battery results were due to a software bug in Safari’s developer mode.
Apple set out its argument in a statement to Consumer Report: “This is not a setting used by customers and does not reflect real-world usage.”
Apple worked with Consumer Reports over the holidays to find out why the battery test results varied so much. It’s hard to get the exact same battery life every time. That’s why benchmark lovers run a test multiple times to find the average result.
Meanwhile, Consumer Reports says that it will be re-running its battery life test with the software update in place and update its recommendation upon completion. Consumer Reports notes that it disabled caching in Safari for consistent testing across platforms.
