Bengaluru becomes first Indian city to get tourism logo; joins elite club of New York, Melbourne and Singapore

In recent times Bengaluru city had been in news for frothing lakes, pothole deaths, and garbage, but now Karnataka govt is trying to facelift the IT city ahead of assembly elections.On Sunday afternoon, Karnataka govt unveiled the Brand Bengaluru Logo to give Bengaluru a new identity.Now Bengaluru joins the club of cities like New York, Melbourne, and Singapore which have their own tourism logos. 

After unveiling the Brand Bengaluru Logo, Priyank Kharge, Minister for tourism and IT/BT while Speaking with News Nation said," Bengaluru is a brand for investment but we wanted to make it a global brand in the field of world tourism, we wanted to come across as a truly global cosmopolitan city.The idea is to ensure that we portray Bengaluru's history and see Bengaluru as No 1 city ".

The newly unveiled Brand Bengaluru Logo font has been designed in such a way that some letters appear in English and some in Kannada, highlighting  Be and U which is supposed to signify that Bengaluru is home to everyone, who can be safe in their own identities.This logo was designed by a start-up company Namur. 

Venkatesh, member Namur said,"The main concept is Be You, anybody can be you in Bengaluru.We have been working on this logo for one year and we were interviewed for this many times to describe how it will take Bengaluru to another level".

On the occasion of brand Bengaluru logo launch, tourism department had also organised a one-day shopping festival Bengaluru habba in and around the iconic Vidhan Soudha premises with 20 stalls and a flea market.
