Bengaluru: First girl child born on New Year in BBMP hospitals to get Rs 5 lakhs

Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagar Palika (BBMP) has decided to celebrate the girl child and for this, the civic body has announced that the first girl child born in the New Year at any BBMP hospital in Bengaluru will be provided free education.

Speaking to News Nation Sampat Raj, Mayor Bengaluru said, “We will be depositing 5 lac rupees in a joint account of BBMP and the girl child and interest money will be used for her education. If she wants to do any professional course, BBMP will help in that as well.”

In Bengaluru city, more than 40 hospitals and primary health centres are run by BBMP and all the medical officers of these hospitals have been asked to record the timings of the birth of the girl child after December 31 midnight to ascertain the winner.

But BBMP has made it clear that Caesarean-section births will not be included in this and the reward will be given only to the girl child born through normal delivery.
