In a heart-wrenching incident, a stray dog tried to feed on the body of a newborn baby girl in Mandya, reports said. The incident took place on Wednesday near Mandya Institute of medical sciences (MIMS) in Mangalore.
The incident has astonished passersby who saw the dog running with the infant in its mouth. They pelted the dog with stones, cornered it and snatched away the baby from its mouth. People have taken new born baby to MIMS, but the infant was dead.
As the news disseminate, people jostled the hospital premises. District Health Officer (DHO) Dr Mohan and medical superintendent of MIMS Dr Hanumanta also rushed to the hospital. After that police were informed. Officers inspected records in maternity wards and enquired about details of new born baby.
In a CCTV footage doctors have found that the baby was stillborn, and belonged to a lady Rizvan. The baby reportedly died in the womb, and after the delivery corpse of the baby was handover to her husband, Saimulla. But the father instead of doing the funeral, he reportedly threw the body into a heap of garbage. From there Stray dogs have taken the infant body and tried to feed on them. Police have taken Samiulla into custody.
