New Delhi :

Debt-ridden Uttarakhand businessman Prakash Pandey's mortal remains were sent to his hometown after he passed away in a hospital. Pandey had allegedly consumed poison at 'Janata Darbar' held by Uttarakhand Agriculture Minister Subodh Uniyal at the BJP office in Dehradun last week.

Pandey was a transporter who said he had suffered huge losses due to demonetisation.

Uniyal said Pandey was a resident of Nai Colony in Kathgodam and had in his plea said he incurred losses in his business due to the note ban in 2016.

Pandey had said he was unable to repay loans taken from finance companies and had already written to the prime minister, the finance minister and the BJP president seeking waiver of the interest on his loans, Uniyal said.

"While he was still recounting his story, he collapsed. The party workers rushed him to the ICU of Doon hospital in my car," the minister said.
