Hundreds of protesters on Morning gathered outside the school where a 7-year-old girl was allegedly molested by two senior students in west Delhi’s Moti Nagar area, police said.
Around 150-200 protesters, who claimed to be affiliated to various political parties, demonstrated outside the school premises this afternoon and shouted slogans against the school authorities, said a senior police officer, adding that no law and order situation was reported.
Meanwhile, police is planning to conduct sensitisation sessions in the schools of the area to create awareness against such kind of abuse.
“Handling such kinds of situation requires intellect and patience. We will be speaking to teachers of the school concerned and also other schools on how to deal with such incidents,” said the officer.
The student, who had accused the senior girls of allegedly molesting her after sedating her, is in a state of shock and is being counselled, he said.
She is a little incoherent about the sequence of events, but she is being counselled and even her parents are being counselled so that they can help her come out of the trauma, the officer said.
In her statement, the girl had said that two girls of senior classes used to take her to a vacant room in the school during lunch time and take off her clothes as well as theirs. They would also sedate her, the minor told her counsellor.
“They allegedly touched her private parts. When she tried to resist, they would threaten her,” the officer had said.
This was happening for the last few months, he said.
The girl talked about the incident with her parents who then approached the police.
One of the accused, who is a major, has been arrested while the other, a juvenile, has been identified, the officer said.
Police is also speaking to other students to gauge whether others were also violated on similar lines.
