Shopian:
National Conference MLC Showkat Hussain Ganie residence in Shopian has been reportedly attacked by a militant on Thursday.
The militant opened fire on the security guard who was on duty outside the residence of National Conference MLC. The guard fire back in retaliation.
However, no casualties have been reported so far. Also, at the time of the firing, Showkat Ganie was not present inside his residence.
Recently, National Conference MLC Showkat Ganie called Hizbul Mujahideen militant Burhan Wani, who had been killed in an encounter in July, last year, a martyr. After, his contradictory statement on Burhan Wani, the MLC faced the irked of many leaders in Jammu and Kashmir.

Shiv Shakti Sena on Thursday held a protest against National Conference MLC Showkat Hussain Ganie for calling Hizbul terrorist Burhan Wani a martyr.
The protesters burnt the effigy of Showket Hussain amidst anti-National Conference slogans. The protestors also appealed to the State Government to take strict action against the anti-national leaders.
