At least 1.8 lakh students did not appear for Uttar Pradesh board examinations on the first day, informed state education board on Wednesday.
Deputy Director Education Vikas Srivastava said, “Over 1,80,826 students did not appear on the first day of board examination on Tuesday.”
The Uttar Pradesh Board examination for Class 10 and Class 12 commenced on Tuesday and will continue till March 12.
State education department official believe that absentee in such large number for board examinations was due to the measures initiated by the UP government.
The Yogi Adityanath-led government to check malpractices during board examination had installed CCTV cameras in exam halls and is using Special Task Force and intelligence to check activities of education mafia.
Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma said, “The preventive measures have been taken with the objective of copy free examination and curb involvement of education mafia.”

According to UP education board figures, a total of 66,37,018 students are registered to appear for board exams.
