JEE Advanced 2018 to be conducted in CBT mode only; may include short answer type questions

Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2018, which is scheduled to take place on May 20, 2018, has slight changes in its question paper format in the academic session 2018-19.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur, the exam conducting authority has decided to include short answer type questions along with the existing Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) in the question pattern.

Till last year, the JEE Advanced question format had only MCQs with either single or multiple correct answer options.

Moreover, the paper will be conducted only in Computer-based Test (CBT) mode while until 2017, it was held both online and offline.

The JEE Mains 2018 took place on April 8 at different centres across the globe. The aspirants, who successfully clear the paper, will be eligible to appear for the JEE Advanced 2018.

Here we bring you some important details, that candidates should keep in mind ahead of their JEE Advanced paper.

- The examination consists of two papers - Part 1 and Part 2.

- The duration of each paper is of three hours.

- Paper 1 will be held between 9 am to 12 pm.

- Paper 2 will start from 2 pm and end at 5 pm.

JEE Advanced 2018 question paper format:

1. Each question paper will have three separate sections - Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

2. The question papers will consist of MCQs and short answer type questions to test comprehension, reasoning and analytical ability of aspirants.

3. Negative mark is involved for incorrect answers of some of the questions. Candidates will be provided the details of the marking process during the examination.

4. Examinees should thoroughly go through the detailed instructions given in the question papers available at the time of examination.

5. The question papers will be both in English and Hindi languages. The candidates will have the option to choose (and also switch between) the preferred language anytime at the time of examination.
