Bihar: Major goof-up as Bhagalpur University forgets to print Hindi question papers, exam postponed

Patna:

Bihar has been grabbing headlines for various question paper leaks recently. It is in news again for all wrong reasons. In yet another shocking development, last paper of the second semester postgraduate Hindi exam of 94 students belonging to the Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University (TMBU) had to be postponed because the university forgot to print the question papers.

Following the incident, the vice chancellor of the university has served a show cause notice on the controller of examination and the head of Hindi postgraduation department.

The exam schedule for the second semester postgraduation exam was announced in the second week of March. While exams of three papers

had been conducted, the final paper was to be held on Thursday. However, it had to be postponed because the question papers could not be printed.

94 students who appeared for the exams could not write their paper. The new examination date has not been announced yet.

University sources, quoting the controller of examination, said the question papers were even not sent to him for initiating the printing process.

The head of the department (HoD), Hindi, had blamed the goof up on the confusion created by introduction of the choice based credit system (CBCS), TMBU public relations officer (PRO) Ashok Thakur said.

“The CBCS was introduced to allow students flexibility to choose any subject (from science, arts or commerce streams) in the fourth paper.

The Hindi HoD has claimed that printing of question papers could not be initiated as he was not aware which subjects the students opted for in the fourth paper,” Thakur was quoted as saying by a leading English daily.
