As part of the Central government’s proposal to boost hiring by private sector, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has said that it would share the scores of various competitive exams like civil services and NDA online.
The scores of the candidates appearing for such exams published online will form a useful database for other employers, who will find a platform to identify deserving candidates, UPSC has said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced in March that the scores of candidates who appear for competitive examinations will be shared with prospective employers in order to enable them to choose quality talent.
The information like marks obtained and educational qualifications of candidates, who took the final stage of examination (interview) but were “not recommended” will be revealed by UPSC, it said.
A dedicated website – Integrated Information System for Public Recruitment Agencies – is being developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) and it will have the details of the candidates.
Candidates will also get a provision in the application form to either opt in or out of the disclosure scheme. “Necessary instructions to the candidates about the disclosure scheme will be provided in the Commission’s notice of all the examinations covered by this scheme,” it said.
However, candidates taking tests for recruitment to the armed forces and those applying for limited departmental competitive examinations and the Central Industrial Security Force will not be covered under this scheme.
Last year, the central government had approved a Niti Ayog proposal to share the scores and ranking of candidates in recruitment examinations on a portal in an effort to raise access of the unemployed to job opportunities.
UPSC selects officers for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), the Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and the Indian Police Service (IPS) among others. Staff Selection Commission (SSC), another recruitment agency conducts examinations to select candidates for various government departments.
The details that will be made public for other recruitment agencies include name, date of birth, category (whether SC, ST or physically handicapped) educational qualifications, total marks obtained in the written examination and interview based on which merit is formed, address, e-mail id and mobile number.
