Kolkata International Film Festival welcomes celebrities across India

Kolkata will be witnessing a star-studded event for the next couple of days as celebrities all over the country descend on Mamata Banerjee's stage for the 23rd Kolkata International Film Festival. The event gets a kick start on November 10 and will continue till November 17, 2017.

144 films from 65 countries will be screened at 12 different venues across the city. From Amitabh Bachchan to 'Bollywood Badshah' Shah Rukh Khan, a bunch of stars become a part of this grandeur and celebration.

Talking about this ceremony chief minister Mamata Banerjee said,"The whole world has come to Bengal today, We are very proud. But, I am going to London tonight to participate in Sister Nivedita's 150th birth anniversary celebrations at her home. English Heritage deferred the programme for me as I was busy with U17 World Cup."

While the whole city is going gaga over this International Film Festival, Shah Rukh Khan has given Kolkata people another reason to cheer further.

Khan, who has been a regular at the film festival's inauguration for the past couple of years, has promised to improve his Bengali in the next edition of the Kolkata International Film Festival.

"Now, I am attempting eight lines in Bengali, please bear with me," he told a capacity crowd at Netaji Indoor Stadium.

"Ei film fesivaler bisesh anusthane uposthit thakte pere sammanito bodh korchhi (I am honoured to be present at this special event of the film festival)," King Khan was quoted as saying.

Thanking West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for organising the show, Khan said, "Wonderful weather, wonderful city, looking lovely and Mamata didi lookinglovelier. I am asking my wonderful friends to give me dhoti next time."

Describing cinema as a language which needs to be propagated and felt for spreading the message of love, togetherness and unity, the superstar added that films alsoconvey the present reality as it happens around the world.
