South superstar Ajith's recent release Vivegam has taken over the box office with a storm and is making the cash registers jingle, breaking several box office records.

The movie, which has got overwhelming response from the audience and critics, has beaten the first day collection of megastar Rajinikanth's last release Kabali.

According to box office trade analyst Ramesh Bala, the Ajith starrer has minted Rs 1.21 crore in Chennai where as Kabali had earned Rs 1.12 crore on opening day.

Bala took it to micro-blogging site Twitter, to share the first day box office collections of Vivegam.

He wrote, "All-time Top 3 Day 1 #Chennai City BO Grossers: 1. #Vivegam - ₹ 1.21 Crs 2. #Kabali - ₹ 1.12 Crs 3. #Theri - ₹ 1.05 Crs"


This is not at all. Vivegam has become all time highest opener in Chennai in the 120 years of Box Office History making Ajith a king of openings.


Well, Vivegam has is doing an exceptionally good business at the box office and has become Ajith’s highest opener in Kerala and Karnataka.

Interestingly, the movie is also doing wonders at international box office and has beaten Ajith's own movie Veeram's record.

Ramesh Bala tweeted about the same and wrote, “#Vivegam with it’s Day 1 Partial BO of $245K in #USA overtakes #Veeram ‘s Life-time BO of $243,935 to become #Thala #Ajith ‘s 4th Highest!”


Notably Vivegam has raked in a worldwide collection of Rs 25.83 cr on its day of release, making it the second highest all time opening for a Tamil movie.


Helmed by Siva, Vivegam revolves around the life of an Interpol officer. Also starring Kajal Aggarwal, Vivek Oberoi and Akshara Haasan in pivotal roles, the movie was reportedly made with a budget of Rs 100 crore.
