South Indian actress Amala Paul has allegedly faced sexual harassment while rehearsing for an upcoming show in Chennai. The diva has reportedly claimed that she was asked for sexual favors by an unidentified man on the rehearsal sets.
Horrified with the incident she filed a sexual harassment case with the Chennai police.
Talking about the incident that while it was an unpleasant encounter, she felt very unsafe and chose to seek help from the cops.
“When I had gone to do dance rehearsal, a man spoke to me unpleasantly, like he was conducting a trade. I was very shocked. I was very humiliated. That’s why I immediately came to complain to the police station. I’m going to Malaysia for an event. I went to dance practice for that event. While I was practising, he came inside. He spoke as though he was part of the event. He spoke to me like he was someone known at the event. He spoke to me personally when I was alone inside. That’s why I have complained. He has spoken like he was conducting a sexual trade, for a favour,” Amala was quoted as saying.
This is not all. The actress also suspected that the accused had some internal links on the sets, which made Amala feel more worried.
“He knew I was there at that time. That’s why I thought it was unsafe because I’m an independent working woman. So there is definitely a close source. That’s how he knew I was there at the time. I feel extremely unsafe. Someone involved at the event has only given this information,” Amala added.
According to the media reports, after Amala's complaint, Chennai police has arrested a businessman named Azhagesan from Kottivakkam.
Notably, this isn't the first time that a celebrity has faced such an unpleasant incident.
Recently, veteran actress Zeenat Aman too had filed a molestation case against a Mumbai based business for allegedly stalking and threatening her.
