Tollywood superstar Nagarjuna's son Akhil Akkineni is making the headlines after he reportedly called off his engagement with Hyderabad-based fashion designer Shriya Bhupal.
Shriya happens to be the granddaughter of renowned industrialist GVK Reddy.
Akhil and Shriya got engaged in December last year in a lavish ceremony and were expected to tie a knot in May this year. Their much-awaited wedding was said to take place in Italy in the presence of over 700 guests.
However, much to everyone's surprise the soon-to-wed couple called it quits at the last moment.
Reportedly, it was the couple's decision to call off the wedding and their respective families have to give in.
While no official announcement has been in this regard, the media reports suggest that the guests have been informed about the cancellation of the wedding.

"Messages went out last Saturday to guests to cancel their programme. No reason was given. Those who were about to book tickets were advised not to go ahead. Even the tickets booked by both families have been cancelled," a source told a leading daily.
The decision has come as a big surprise for everyone given that everything was said to be going smooth between the couple until last week.
In fact, Shriya was also a part of Akhil's elder brother Naga Chaitanya's lavish engagement ceremony with Samantha Ruth Prabhu which took place in January this year.
It is indeed a tough time for Nagarjuna, who is said to have been deeply depressed by this. Besides his last release 'Om Namo Venkatesaya' too didn't fare well at the box office which has added on to his distress.
If the media reports are to be believed, the Tollywood star is so disturbed by the recent turn of events that he has looked him up indoors and has refused to interact with anyone.
