Rakhi Sawant, who is known to to be controversy's favourite child, has once again made it to the headlines after a Ludhiana court issued a fresh non-bailable warrant against her after she allegedly made objectionable remarks against the author of Ramayana - Valmiki.
It was reported that Sawant had compared Valmiki to singer Mika over their behavioural transformation on a television programme. While this hurt the religious sentiments of th Valimiki community, she even faced severe backlash.
Judicial Magistrate Vishav Gupta issued the warrant against her after she skipped the hearing today. He asked the police commissioner of Ludhiana to ensure that she was presented before the court on July 7.
Interestingly, this is the second time the warrant was issued against her in the issue. Earlier, an arrest warrant was issued after Rakhi failed to appear in the court on March 9.
On the instructions of the court, a two-member team of the Ludhiana police left for Mumbai with the arrest warrant in April, but returned to say she could not be found at her address.
Arguing on behalf of her, lawyer Rajneesh Lakhanpal told the court her client had not spoken against the sage.
Apart from this, she had also tendered "an unconditional apology" to the Valmiki fraternity, he said.
On the othe hand, Rakhi stated that she didn't say anything to hurt anyone's sentiments and that she is being dragged in to the controversy.
"I think people are forcefully dragging me under bad light to ruin my career. I did not say anything wrong to hurt anyone's sentiment. Even then, I made an apology video and uploaded it online. I am as fearless as the Rani of Jhansi and I will fight against all those people who are dragging me in controversy. I just gave an example of Valmiki ji that I have been reading in books since childhood... I didn't want to hurt anybody's sentiments," Rakhi Sawant was quoted as saying.
