Akshay Kumar’s magic is working again at the box office. His latest release PadMan has earn rave reviews from both critics and fans who have given the film thumbs up.

The comedy-drama which challenges the stigma around menstruation in India opened with a good response at the box office. The flick which also stars Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte has collected Rs 40 crore within the first three days.

The R Balki directorial which minted Rs 13.68 crore on Saturday picked up pace on Sunday and collected Rs 16.11 crore. The movie which focussed on the need to provide cheap sanitary pads for women has raked in Rs 40.05 crore till now and is expected to enter the Rs 100 crore club soon.

Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to share the total box office collection of the social drama.

PadMan which released in 2750 screens in the country is inspired by the life of social activist Arunachalam Murugnantham. For the uninitiated Arunachalam invented low-cost sanitary napkins for the women in rural areas.

The ‘Airlift’ actor played the character of Lakshmikant Chauhan in the socially relevant film.

The makers of the flick adopted an aggressive strategy where Akshay Kumar introduced the Padman challenge. The 'Rustom' actor asked others to post a picture with a sanitary napkin in hand and also nominate others for the challenge. The strategy was quite successful and even B-town stars like Deepika Padukone, Tiger Shroff were part of it.
