New Delhi:

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's forthcoming period drama 'Padmavati' has been mired in controversy since ever the movie hit the floor in Rajasthan.

The magnum opus which seemed to be glorifying the Rajput valour in the state has given birth to a lot of debates across the country. From vandalisation of film sets to Karni Sena protest all over India, buzz around the release of the movie refused to die down.

Amidst those ongoing controversies the Deepika Padukone-starrer had also been knocked by the Central Board of Film Certification(CBFC) for its historic discrepancies and was readied and submitted again on November 28.

The makers have voluntarily deferred the release date of the flick beyond December 1.

Meanwhile, latest media reports suggest that the film is expected to be re-viewed by the board’s Examining Committee in the coming week and may get a new release date anytime soon.

Talking about the latest development, a CBFC spokes person said, "The new application is very consciously worded in legalese, and the CBFC is trying to decode the various levels of claims and disclaims in the application about the historic authenticity of the film. This is taking time. But the film will be viewed by the board’s Examining Committee in the coming week, and we will have to organise a panel of historians to examine the content," reported The Asian Age.
