Richa Chadha is all set to follow Bollywood actress Vidya Balan footsteps and will be soon seen essaying the role of a popular South actress in the upcoming biopic.

According to the media reports, Richa has been roped for South adult star Shakeela wherein she will be essaying the lead role.

Shakeela is one of the biggest stars of the 90s from Kerala and has acted in several adult films in languages spanning Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.

Reportedly, the biopic, which is being helmed by journalist Gauri Lankesh's brother Indrajit, is likely to hit the floors in April or May.

The movie will reportedly chronicle the life of Shakeela who entered the film business at the age of 16 and traces her life journey from there.

"The film is the story of Shakeela, one of the most famous actors from Malayalam cinema from the 90s who rose to a spectacular amount of fame. Her fans were spread across Asia and she earned fanfare as a woman which back then was unheard of. The film's script was exciting and is a great story to tell which will make for a great watch for the audience. The preparations will begin soon and the film should be going on floors in April or May," Richa Chadha's spokesperson was quoted as saying.

Earlier, Vidya Balan had created a buzz in the town when she portrayed the role of South star Silk Smitha in The Dirty Picture. The movie was a big success at the box office and even bagged three National Awards.

We wonder if Richa Chadha's movie will be able to match up the level set by The Dirty Picture.

On a related note, Shakeela will be making a comeback on the big screen after a decade with horror film Seelavathi.
