After a couple of days the kolkata based model-turned-actress Sonika Singh Chauhan passed away in a fatal car accident, a number of murmurs began to fly in the air.
While Bengali actor Vikram Chatterjee was recorded saying he was neither drunk nor speeding the car, the colleagues and other members of the industry are completely denying the statement.
The actor who was behind the wheel has arranged a press meet on Friday and stated, "I am hearing many things, that I was intoxicated, that I was driving at 120 km per hour. But those are not true".
Days after his comments the entire film fraternity burst into anger as according to them it was not the case.
Few of Sonika's friend who have accused Vikram for her death was quoted while shared their views regarding the matter.
Saurav Das, an actor, said, "We want Vikram to tell the truth. It is evident he had been drinking. And then he does a press meet to say he was not. Come on Vikram. We are with you, buddy, but please tell the truth."
Indroneel Mukherjee, a fashion designer who has worked with Mr Chatterjee, said, "He is a nice person but I was disappointed when he said he was neither drunk nor speeding. We planned to start a campaign, Forgive Vikram for a mistake, an accident. But after the press meet, we couldn't."
BJP lawmaker Rupa Ganguly also expressed her anguish at the candlelight-vigil, organised in the memory of late actress Sonika Singh Chauhan.
Expressing her anger the Bengali actress said, "Why don't we know the facts yet? Why are the police going slow on the case? Why were ministers and important people with Vikram that day?"
Police who have already monitored the footage of CCTV cameras and taken and send the blood sample of the actor have not made a single comment against Vikram yet.
Sonika who was not wearing a seat belt was taken to the nearby hospital by Chatterjee just after the accident took place at the wee hours of 29th April 2017.
Though Vikram was discharged after some primary aid, the actress was declared dead at 4:50 AM.
After Vikram lost his sense within a while, the hospital authority admitted the actor at ICU again.
Later, Chauhan’s family lodged a complaint against Chatterjee, accusing him of rush driving in a state of being drunk.
Sharon Singh Chauhan, the mother of the model even raised her voice against Vikram through a social media post.
Being angry she wrote, "We need answers and we have not got any. Why ??? what??? How??"
"She (Sonika) took the decision to trust a friend and trust her life with him at the wheel. Why did it go so wrong... not only did it end her life... but it was clearly reckless and rash... negligence causing her life to be snatched away. She did not deserve this", she added further.
