New Delhi:

Sushant Singh Rajput is on a song since his portrayal of MS Dhoni in the 2016 biopic M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story in which he essayed the role of Indian cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

And now Sushant has a good number of films in his kitty including Abhishek Kapoor's Kedarnath opposite Sara Ali Khan and Chanda Mama Door Ke where he will be seen playing an astronaut.

If everything goes as reported then Sushant will soon be seen essaying the role of The Great Khali, which is a biopic based on the wrestler.

According to the industry insider, "The biopic is on the life of wrestler Dalip Singh Rana, better known as Khali or The Great Khali in WWE circle. The studio has spoken to the Punjabi wrestler and he has given them the rights to make a film on his life. Sushant has been approached to play the titular role and he has in principle agreed to do the film."

Further adding the insider said, "People only know about the sporty side of this Indian-born American semi-retired professional wrestler, promoter and actor. But there’s an untold story behind his super success. He was an officer for the Punjab state police and struggled for years before making it big in wrestling. The story will be about his journey."

The real challenge for the makers would be to make Sushant look convincing as Khali because Khali’s physique is much different from Sushant. Khali stands at a towering seven feet one inch and weighs about 157 kgs whereas Sushant stands at six feet one inch and weighs 77 kgs.

A trade analyst opines, "What worked in Sushant’s favour during Dhoni was that he looked, walked and talked like MSD. Here, Sushant has no similarities with Khali when it comes to his body prototype and his height. Unless there’s a lot of VFX involved, it’s difficult to pull off a film on Khali. No hero in Bollywood will look convincing as The Great Khali unless there’s CGI."

The Great Khali was born Dalip Singh Rana and debuted in WWE alongside Daivari and had alliances with Ranjin Singh and Jinder Mahal and in 2007 he became WWE's World Heavyweight Champion.
