Director and producer Vikram Bhatt, who remains in controversy for one reason or the other has made another controversial statement about his relationship with Sushmita Sen.
In an interview with HT Brunch, Bhatt revealed many secrets of his life. He regrets cheating on his wife with actress Sushmita Sen. The affair with the Miss Universe led to the divorce with his childhood friend Aditi. After ending his relationship with Aditi, he thought of attempting suicide.
“That was not because of Sushmita. That was because of what I’d done to my life. I had gotten divorced, my film Ghulam was yet to be released, I was only Sushmita Sen’s boyfriend, I was depressed, I missed my daughter like crazy...I had just made a mess of my life,” HT said quoting Bhatt.

Bhatt further went on to say that he still regret his decision of abandoning his wife and daughter. “I regret hurting my wife and my child and abandoning them. I regret the pain I caused them. I always believe that when you’re not courageous, you become cunning. I did not have the courage to tell Aditi how I felt. And it was all happening together, it was a big mess. I regret being weak at that time. Had I not been weak, things would have been different today. But when I look back in hindsight, it’s all about growing up, and everything teaches you something at least,” Bhatt said.
Vikram has recently released his novel, ‘A Handful of Sunshine’, which is reportedly inspired by his real life. The story in the novel revolves around a couple, Veer and Mira, who love each other but get separated by a tragic incident. But there’s a twist in the end of the novel. The couple met after some years of their break-up and decide to leave their respective partner. “It’s not autobiographical; it’s sourced from real life, inspired by real life,” HT said quoting Bhatt.
Talking about marriage plans, Vikaram said “I don’t believe in the institution of marriage anymore. It’s redundant; it’s an outdated institution. It’s like lanterns in a house, you don’t use them anymore.”
On a question asked about a memoir on his life, he said “No, I’ve already ruined my life enough.”
