Angelina Jolie starrer Maleficent remains one of the most loved fantasy drama films in Hollywood. The Robert Stromberg directorial which was released in 2014 grossed $ 758 million at the worldwide box office.
Fans have been eagerly waiting for the sequel which is expected to go on floors this year. Angelina Jolie and Elle Fanning who played the respective roles Maleficent and Aurora will be part of the sequel, a report in Hollywood Reporter suggested.
The two gorgeous actresses will be joined by Deadpool and Games of Thrones star Ed Skrein. The 35-year-old actor will play the antagonist in the much-awaited movie, the report said.
The makers of the film are yet to unveil the details of Skrein's character.
Skrein has been appreciated for his performance as a villain in Ryan Reynold's Deadpool. The actor who played the role of Daario Naharis in Game of Thrones will be next seen in Alita: Battle Angel, and If Beale Street Could Talk.
Joachim Ronning, who has directed popular films like Kon-Tiki and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, will helm the sequel. Linda Woolverton who penned the first part will write the screenplay for the film which will be produced by Joe Roth.
We just can’t wait to see Ed Skrein as the menacing antagonist in the Maleficent sequel.
