As many as 42 clerics of Assam issued fatwa against a girl singer who had chosen her programme venue in the vicinity of a mosque and a graveyard.
Nahid Afreen, who had also participated in reality show, Indian Idol, reacted to fatwa, saying that she was shocked and broken, but decided not to quit singing. She said many Muslims singers gave her inspiration and suggested her not to quit the profession.
She clarified that she would not quit singing and doing same would be like ignoring god. She said she will properly utilised her talent.
“My singing is gift of God I believe it must be properly utilised, not doing so is ignoring God,”she said.

Afreen pledged that she would never quit her passion.
