The Supreme Court on Monday admitted two separate appeals in the sensationational Aarushi-Hemraj double murder cases. The pleas challenge the acquittal of dentist couple Rajesh and Nupur Talwar. The Allahabad High Court had overturned trial court's decision which held the dentist couple guilty of dual-murder.
The pleas have been filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Hemraj’s wife Khumkala Banjade.
The CBI in its plea told the Supreme Court that the Allahabad High Court's decision in October last year was "wrong" on several counts.
While, Banjade had approached the Apex Court in December last year and had then said, “The high court freed Talwar couple, they are killers. They should be punished. We’ve come to the Supreme Court for justice.”

Fourteen-year-old of Aarushi, daughter of Rajesh and Nupur, was found dead at her residence in May 2008. Earlier, Uttar Pradesh Police suspected 45-year-old Hemraj to be be suspect as he had gone missing, but his body was recovered two days from the terrace of the building later.
A bench of Justice BK Narayana and Justice AK Mishra on 12 October last year, overruled the trial court judgment in the twin murder case of Aarushi and Hemraj and acquitted the Talwar couple, saying no conviction can stand on the basis of mere suspicion.
