Allahabad High Court on Thursday accepted plea by Rajesh and Nupur Talwar challenging their conviction. The Allahabad HC set aside CBI court's order and acquitted Rajesh and  Nupur Talwar.

Nupur and Rajesh Talwar are serving their life sentence in Ghaziabad’s Dasna jail.

May 16, 2008: Aarushi, 14, was found dead with her throat slit in her bedroom. Hemraj, family’s domestic help was suspected of the murder.

May 17, 2008: Domestic help Hemraj was found dead on the terrace of the flat.

May 18, 2008: The murders were carried out with surgical precision, said Noida Police.

May 21, 2008: Delhi police joins the probe.

May 22, 2008: Police suspects Arushi’s killing to be a case of honour killing.

May 23, 2008: Police arrests Rajesh Talwar in connection with the double murders.

June 1, 2008: CBI takes charge of the case from Noida police.

June 13, 2008: Police arrests one Krishna, a domestic help of Talwar.

June 20,2008: CBI conducts lie detection test of Rajesh Talwar.

June 25, 2008: CBI conducts lie detection test on Nupur Talwar.

June 26, 2008: Ghaziabad magistrate refused bail plea to Rajesh Talwar.

February, 2008: Narco-analysis tests on Rajesh Talwar was done.

December 29, 2008: CBI team files a closure report citing “insufficient evidence.”  Talwars remain prime suspects.

January 25, 2011: Rajesh Talwar suffers grievous injuries following an attack by one Utsav Sharma on the Special CBI court premises in Ghaziabad.

Feb 9, 2011:  Trial court rejects CBI's closure report and summons Aarushi’s parents to face charges of murders.

February 21, 2011: Talwars approach Allahabad High Court for quashing trial court summons.

March 18, 2011:  Allahabad HC dismisses the plea.

March 19, 2011: The couple approaches the Supreme Court.

January 09, 2012: Supreme Court says the bail granted to Rajesh Talwar by the lower court in the ‘Aarushi murder case' would continue and that he should appear before the Ghaziabad Magistrate on February 4 to face trial along with his wife, Nupur Talwar.

November, 2013: The Talwar couple are convicted for double-murder and sentenced to life imprisonment by a special CBI court in Ghaziabad.

October, 2017: Allahabad HC set aside CBI court's order and acquitted Rajesh and  Nupur Talwar.
