New Delhi:

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday claimed that her party, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) will win all the 42 Bengal seats in 2019 Lok Sabha elections and oust the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to save the nation.

“We will win all the 42 Lok Sabha seats in the state. It is our pledge. We will oust the BJP to save the country. We will organise a big rally here in January and invite all the (opposition) leaders,” Banerjee said while addressing TMC’s annual Martyrs’ Day rally in Esplanade near Kolkata.

The West Bengal CM, who introduced the idea of a federal front to take on the BJP in 2019, also pulled her out of the race for Opposition’s prime ministerial face saying she didn’t bother about the chair but the people of the country.

“We don’t bother about the chair. We only bother about the people and the country,” the TMC chief said in front of the massive crowd gathered in Esplanade to watch and hear their leader.

Banerjee also took a dig at the BJP for the collapse of a marquee during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally in Midnapore.

“They cannot build a pandal. How can they build the country?” she said.

Referring to Friday’s no-confidence motion victory of the BJP, she said that the saffron party won the trust vote in the Parliament but its tally will come down to 100 in the upcoming general elections.

“During the no-confidence vote in the Lok Sabha yesterday, they (NDA) got 325 votes, but in the 2019 Lok Sabha election, their strength will come down to barely 100 seats,” she added.
