Bihar: Flood causes 56 deaths in state, 65.40 lakh affected; food-packets air-dropped

Additional Secretary of the Disaster Management Department of Bihar, Anirudh Kumar, on Tuesday said that 56 people have died in floods in the state.

The flood situation is grave in 12 districts of Bihar.

20 died in Araria, 8 Kishanganj, 3 East Champaran, 9 West Champaran, 3 Darbhanga, 3 Madhubani, 5 Sitamarhi, 4 Madhepura and 1 Sheohar.

“22 NDRF teams and 16 SDRF teams present, food packets air-dropped today; PM and Bihar CM in touch over flood situation in Bihar,” says Deputy CM Bihar.

Heavy rains has caused flood situation in Bihar. It exacerbated after Nepal released waters into Indian planes. Many rivers are flowing above the danger mark in Bihar.  

Almost 65.40 lakh population from different districts are affected because of heavy floods.

As per the reports from Patna, there is no improvement in the water-level of many rivers in state.
