A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) lawmaker from Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday questioned the patriotism of Indian Cricket captain Virat Kohli for preferring Italy over India to get married to Bollywood actor Anushka Sharma.
The Guna Legislator Panna Lal Shakya while inaugurating a ‘Skill India Centre’ in Madhya Pradesh’s Guna said, “Indian Cricket team captain Virat Kohli earned money in India. Got fame because of India… But he could not find a place to marry in the country.”
The MLA added, “He earned here and spent billions in Italy. Kohli has no respect for the country. His act proves he is not a patriot.”
He also said, “Is Hindustan untouchable.”
While addressing people attending the opening ceremony of ‘Skill India Centre’ he further said, “You all got married here. No one of us went to a foreign country to get married,” he added
The BJP lawmaker further suggested that Kohli ‘cannot be an ideal for Indians’. He said, “Our ideal person should be one who is honest to the nation. One who earns money through hard work and spends his money in the country.”
Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma tied knot on December 11 in Italy and the ceremony is still one of the most talk event. The marriage ceremony was kept a secret from the media and fans until December 11, when the celebrity couple shared official picture of themselves.
Both Virat and Anushka are to host two grand receptions later this month on December 21 in New Delhi and December 26 in Mumbai.
After the wedding reception, the celebrity couple will be spending New year in South Africa and later on Virat will be geared up for the series against South Africa and Anushka will resume with her upcoming flick starring Shahrukh Khan and Katrina Kaif in lead.
