New Delhi:

Haryana's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Suraj Pal Amu, who had threatened Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone and director Sanjay Leela Bhansali over upcoming movie Padmavati, has resigned from all party posts, including Haryana Chief Media Coordinator.

While talking to ANI, Amu also made a controversial statement, saying that he wants to slap former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Farooq Abdullah at Lal Chowk and asked the latter to meet him.

On his resignation, he said, "With a heavy heart I have resigned from the post I had in BJP. I am pained at the behaviour of Haryana CM. I have never seen a BJP CM so arrogant who doesn't respect party workers and community representatives."

Since the inception, the movie has been facing criticism from Shri Rajput Karni Sena for allegedly tampering with historical facts.

Suraj Pal Amu had made disparaging remarks against Bhansali, Deepika and Ranveer Singh. He had also announced a reward of Rs 10 crore for beheading the actress.

This is not all, Suraj Pal Amu had also threatened West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, said that TMC chief would face a similar fate to Supanakha if she continued to support Bhansali's periodic movie.
