New Delhi:

The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on Tuesday sacked her party’s national coordinator Jai Prakash Singh from his post for his remarks that Rahul Gandhi can’t become the prime minister of the country due to her mother Sonia Gandhi’s foreign origin.

“I came to know about BSP national coordinator Jai Prakash Singh’s speech in which he spoke against ideology of BSP and also made personal remarks against the leadership of rival parties. As it is his personal opinion, he has been removed from his post with immediate effect,” ANI quoted Mayawati as saying.

While addressing the first workers’ conference to discuss the BSP’s strategy for the 2019 general elections on Monday, Singh had said, “Rahul looks more like his mother than his father. And his mother is a foreigner, thus he can never be PM”.

The sacked BSP national coordinator had also projected Mayawati as the potential candidate for the post of country’s prime minister and said that she was the only ‘dabang’ leader who can stop the winning chariot of Modi and Shah.

“After playing a pivotal role in making HD Kumaraswamy the chief minister of Karnataka, Mayawati has emerged as a powerful politician. She is the only ‘dabang’ (fearless) leader who can stop the winning chariot of Narendra Modi and Amit Shah in the electoral battle,” Singh had said.

Mayawati directs party leaders to stay mum on pre-poll alliance

The BSP chief asked her party leaders and members not to speak anything on the issue of pre-poll alliance in Uttar Pradesh and other states and leave the matter to the High Command.

“In Uttar Pradesh & in other states as well, until an alliance with a party is announced, members of the Bahujan Samaj Party should refrain from speaking anything about alliance at any level. They should leave it to the High Command,” the BSP Chief said.
