Building collapses in Kolkata’s Burrabazar: One person killed, rescue ops underway

One person has lost his life and several others injured when a building collapsed in Burrabazar area of Kolkata on Tuesday, said ANI report. 

Burrabazar is one of the busiest areas of Kolkata. The injured have been taken to hospital. It has been learnt that rescue operation has started.

More people are believed to be trapped inside the debris. 

According to reports, around 11:30 am, the roof of the first floor of the building collapsed. The injured has benn rushed to Calcutta Medical Hospital.

Earlier on August 15, a portion of an old dilapidated building in central Kolkata collapsed following whcih eight persons were evacuated safely.

"No one is hurt or trapped inside," a senior police official said.

While on July 25, two people were killed when a portion of an almost century-old building collapsed in central Kolkata’s Bowbazaar area.
