CBI arrests Enforcement Directorate officer over bribery charges in Patna

The Central Bureau Of Investigation (CBI) Has Arrested A Senior Official Of The Enforcement Directorate (ED) For Taking Bribe From Different Persons At Patna In Bihar On Thursday.

New Delhi:

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a senior official of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for taking bribe from different persons at Patna in Bihar on Thursday.

According to CBI officials, assistant director rank officer of ED has been arrested for allegedly taking bribes.

The ED official has been identified as Shashi Shekhar.

A CBI official requesting anonymity said, the ED officer has been arrested for taking bribes which amounted upto Rs 10 lakhs.

According to CBI FIR, Shekhar had parked the money with a Kolkata-based businessman, Raj Kumar Agarwal with an intention to take them back as lawful income at a later date.

The ED is a nodal agency for probing economic crimes such as money laundering and violation of foreign exchange regulations.

The CBI official added that they had received a tip off regarding a representative of Agarwal was to deliver the money to Shekhar.

The CBI have arrested Agarwal’s representative identified as Dilip.

CBI have filed FIR under sections of Prevention of Corruption Act as well as over charges of criminal conspiracy against ED official, Aggarwal and Dilip.  

According to sources from the ED, Shekhar was transferred to Bhubaneswar only four days ago.

The ED is an agency for probing economic crimes which includes money laundering and violation of foreign exchange regulations.
