Under attack over board paper leaks, CBSE Chairperson Anita Karwal on Thursday broke her silence and said that the decision to conduct re-examination had been taken in favour of the students.
“We have taken the decision in favour of the students. We are working for their good. Dates for re-examination will be announced soon,” CBSE Chief Anita Karwal said.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), in a circular on Wednesday, had informed that students would have to take the re-test for the two subjects after their papers got allegedly leaked on WhatsApp.
Union HRD Minister terms incident "unfortunate"
Terming the incident “unfortunate”, Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar said, “We will not let any culprit go scot-free. The police is on the job and I am very sure, they will nab the culprits as they have done in case of the SSC exam leak case.”
The HRD minister said that the dates for re-examination of Class-X mathematics and Class-XII economics papers will be announced by Monday or Tuesday.
“The CBSE will declare what will be the next step in a couple of days, probably on Monday or Tuesday,” Javadekar told reporters in New Delhi.

Delhi Police begins investigation
The Delhi Police has started an investigation into the alleged CBSE paper leak case. A team of Crime Branch on Thursday questioned 25 people, including 18 students and five tutors in connection with the case.
“Children of various Delhi schools shared question papers on Whatsapp before exams. 11 school children, seven college, five tutors and two private persons have been questioned till now,” Special Commissioner of Police RP Upadhyay said.
Upadhyay said that the police is also investigating if the alleged CBSE paper leak took place elsewhere in the country.
“We have no information that CBSE paper leak is pan-India, but if such a thing emerges, we will send teams outside Delhi,” he said.
